UMM of the Mohawk District "SQUASH HUNGER"

On the afternoon of November 20th, the United Methodist Men of the Mohawk District were doers of God's word and not just hearers. The season had ended and Triple's Produce had "a warehouse full of produce they could not give away", according to the owner. The UMM learned of the unwanted produce and acted immediately to get the food where it was needed most.  A group of men gathered at Triple's Produce in Schuyler, NY, around noon time and worked together to load squash and cabbage into pickup trucks & vans, and transport the donated produce to the Hope House on Eagle St. in Utica and the Compassion Coalition on Columbia St in Utica. Both of these ministries are vital in feeding the poor and homeless in inner-city Utica. The men delivered 500 pounds each of cabbage and spaghetti, acorn, and butternut squash to Hope House and another 1000 pounds of each to the Compassion Coalition. Thank you goes to these men and their willingness to serve Gods and HIs people and a special thanks to Triple's Produce fort heir gracious donation to help "squash hunger."

Those who hear the teaching of God and obey it -

are the ones who are truly blessed.
