The teens fasted for 30 hours and raised over $700 for world hunger. The candle ceremony depicted in the photos signifies that every three seconds, a child dies from hunger in the world. As the drum beat once every three seconds a candle was extinguished. The last candle stayed lit to represent the child that these teens saved through the money they raised. It was very emotional.
The Parish provided entertainment in the form of Larry Brennan, RN, PhD* (*Professor of humor Development). If you want someone to make you laugh, you should get Larry to your church for a presentation. He is hilarious.
Jerry Turner of the Living Waters Parish at Oriskany Falls also did some stand up comedy for the teens.
