WHEN -  Starting Monday September 20 and continuing on Sept. 27, Oct. 4,

Oct. 11, Oct. 18, and Oct. 25th.  (a total of six weeks)

TIME -  6:30 PM to 8:30 PM

BASIC COURSE:  Facilitator –Peg Donaghy    This is a new Basic Program which reflects a new time in ministry and a new way of understanding what we, as Methodists, are and what we are about.  This class will familiarize you with three areas of ministries – caring, leading, and communicating.  It is designed to help people recognize and use their spiritual gifts for the work of the church.  The emphasis is on living, leading and witnessing by the spirit rather than preaching.  (Because this is a new basic course, advanced, or certified, lay speakers may take this course for credit.)

ADVANCED COURSE:     “Creating a Care Giving Community/Ministry”        Facilitator-Pastor Cathy Lee

Caring for a person in need is a loving act of kindness.  It can also be an exhausting (both mentally and physically) time in a person’s life.  Often, caregivers feel “I can, or must, do this by myself.  They feel alone in the trials of day to day life.  This course will help to show how to create a care giving ministry in the church that will interface with those who are doing the care giving.  It will help to answer the questions of  “How can we recognize those who may be in need of a helping hand?“  “How can we offer spiritual, emotional, and physical assistance to these persons?”  and “How can we do this without causing embarrassment or stepping on toes?”  (This course is open to anyone wishing to participate. For credit as an Advanced Lay Speaking course, participants must first complete a Basic course.)

COST - $20.00  (Payable at the first meeting. Please do not send with registration)
